The sleepy season has begun! Yesterday we paused to marvel at the heavy, steely grey clouds filling the sky, tinged with bright midday sunlight. "That's November rolling in," Peggy remarked. "November skies." It's true -- at home, we've lit the wood stove more than once, and it's a race to get the garden cleaned up before winter really sets in.
With November skies ahead, and the tender fruits all harvested, we're looking forward to a little hibernation, as well as the sweeter, richer, nourishing foods we associate with autumn. Sweet winter squash, pungent spices, the crisp autumn broccoli and other cabbage siblings -- we want it all!
Here at the warehouse we have some big improvement projects this winter, and we're anxious to be prepared for the changes that are coming. Thus, sadly, we will not be at the Tuesday Farmers Market This Coming Week. We're sorry to miss you for the third week in a row, and we look forward to next year...but there is much to be done on the home front and we are hard at work here.
That means we are finished with Tuesday Markets for the season! Next week is the final week before Tuesdays shut down until the spring. So, Tuesday friends -- we'll see you next year!
As for Saturday markets, we will continue attending the market at Steamboat Landing until mid-December, weather permitting.
As always, it is a pleasure to cook for you. We'll see you tomorrow, in the autumn chill!
